Established in 2022, Summit Kids Physiotherapy is dedicated to helping children and youth move, play, and thrive.
We provide pediatric physiotherapy and occupational services for infants, children, and adolescents from birth to 18 years of age, supporting families through every stage of development.
Every child develops at their own pace, and we recognize that each child has unique strengths, challenges, and goals. Whether your child is requiring support in reaching early milestones, managing a medical condition, or working to improve strength, coordination, fine motor skills, or independent mobility, we are here to provide compassionate and individualized care.
Summit Kids Physiotherapy clinic began it's journey after recognizing a significant need for accessible, high-quality pediatric physiotherapy services within the local Dufferin region and surrounding communities, inspiring the creation of Summit Kids Physiotherapy.
After 3 years of offering only pediatric physiotherapy services, we have now expanded to include pediatric occupational therapy services as well!

At Summit Kids Physiotherapy, we help children build the movement skills, strength, and confidence they need to participate in everyday life. Through individualized assessments and engaging, play-based one-to-one treatment, we support children at every stage of development—from infants learning their first movement skills to older children developing coordination, balance, and athletic abilities.
Our physiotherapy services focus on improving gross motor development, mobility, strength, flexibility, balance, coordination, core stability, and motor planning. We also can help children build endurance, improve physical fitness, develop sport-specific skills, and increase their participation in play, recreation, school, and other meaningful activities.

We specialize in early intervention to help infants and toddlers develop the foundational movement skills needed for healthy growth and development.

As children become more active explorers, we help build confidence, coordination, and movement skills through play-based therapy.

As physical demands increase at school, on the playground, and in sports, we can help children develop strength, endurance, coordination, and confidence. We support children with:

We offer specialized care for children with neurological, developmental and physical disabilities, including:
At Summit Kids Physiotherapy, our team brings together a diverse range of knowledge, experience, and therapeutic approaches to support each child's individual needs. We recognize that every child is unique, with their own strengths, challenges, interests, and personality. As part of the assessment process, we take the time to get to know your child and determine which treatment approaches will best support their development and help them achieve their goals.
We believe that having a variety of skills and techniques in our therapeutic toolkit allows us to create individualized treatment plans that are both meaningful and effective. Our therapists are committed to ongoing learning and professional development, continually expanding their knowledge and skills to provide families with current, evidence-informed care.
Below, you will find examples of some of the treatment approaches and techniques we may incorporate into therapy:
Cuevas-Medek-Exercises (CME) is a specialized hands-on approach that uses specific, progressively challenging exercises to encourage a child’s postural control and automatic movement responses against gravity.
Through carefully selected activities, your physiotherapist challenges your child’s balance, stability, and ability to maintain control of their head and trunk while developing functional movement skills. Exercises are adapted to each child’s abilities and may progress as their strength, postural control, and movement responses improve.
The ultimate goal of CME is to help children develop functional motor control and achieve greater independence in head and trunk control, sitting, standing, and walking
At Summit Kids Physiotherapy, therapy is tailored to each child’s individual needs and developmental goals, helping them build new skills and reach their potential one step at a time.
Total Motion Release® (TMR) is a gentle, movement-based approach that focuses on improving symmetry, mobility, and motor control throughout the body. Using specific movements and positions, therapy encourages children to explore comfortable movement patterns and supports improved functional movement.
At Summit Kids Physiotherapy, our Physiotherapist trained in TMR Tots and Teens incorporate this approach into individualized treatment plans based on each child’s abilities, strengths, and goals. Sessions are designed to be engaging, child-friendly, and comfortable, allowing children to participate actively in their therapy and build new movement skills through play.
TMR may be incorporated into treatment for infants and children experiencing torticollis, postural asymmetries, differences in muscle tone, gait asymmetry, motor control challenges, and certain neurological or musculoskeletal conditions. It may also be used as part of rehabilitation following sport-related injuries, when appropriate.
Therapeutic Tape (also known as kinesiology or K-taping) uses a flexible, elastic therapeutic tape that moves with the skin and body. When applied by a trained therapist, it can provide gentle sensory feedback to support movement, muscle function, and comfort during everyday activities.
At Summit Kids Physiotherapy, kinesiology tape may be incorporated into an individualized treatment plan to help manage pain and swelling, provide additional sensory input, and support muscle activation or relaxation when appropriate. The tape allows children to continue moving and participating in activities while receiving this additional support.
Our Physiotherapist considers each child’s unique needs and goals when determining whether kinesiology taping may be beneficial. It can be used as an adjunct to physiotherapy for children with a variety of musculoskeletal and neurological conditions, alongside other therapeutic activities and interventions.
Whether your baby is breastfeeding, bottle-feeding, or using a combination of both, we’re here to help you feel supported and confident along the way. We look at the whole child, including how your baby’s posture, movement, muscle function, oral-motor skills, and breathing work together during feeding. We take the time to understand your baby’s unique needs and your family’s goals, and work with you to develop an individualized plan of care. We can support infants with:
When appropriate, we also collaborate with other professionals involved in your baby’s care, such as IBCLCs, pediatricians, dentists, osteopaths, and other healthcare providers, to ensure your family receives well-rounded, coordinated support.
The Ontario Ministry of Health’s Assistive Devices Program (ADP) helps eligible individuals access funding for essential mobility devices and positioning equipment including wheeled walkers, gait trainers and standing frames.
At Summit Kids Physiotherapy, our ADP-authorized Physiotherapist for Ambulation Aids can work with children and their families to assess mobility and positioning needs, review existing equipment, and recommend appropriate equipment to support each child’s comfort, function, safety, and participation in everyday activities.
We collaborate closely with families and their chosen equipment vendor throughout the assessment, prescription, and fitting process, helping guide families through the steps involved in accessing suitable equipment and available ADP funding.
Our goal is to help children access the equipment they need to participate more comfortably and confidently at home, at school, and in their communities.
At Summit Kids, our occupational therapist supports families through the exciting yet often overwhelming transition to solid foods by tailoring the approach to your infant's unique developmental readiness. Whether you choose traditional purees, Baby-Led Weaning (BLW), or a hybrid combo approach, I help guide the process safely and effectively. For families utilizing purees, I assist in advancing textures smoothly to prevent pocketing or sensory aversions. For those exploring Baby-Led Weaning, our OT will provide guidance on safe food sizing and textures to foster self-feeding, hand-eye coordination, and oral-motor skills like chewing and tongue movement. Together, we will build a customized, stress-free feeding plan that honors your child's cues, ensures safety, and sets a strong foundation for a lifetime of happy, independent eating.
The Sequential-Oral-Sensory (SOS) Approach to Feeding is a play-based, child-led framework designed to evaluate and treat children experiencing severe food selectiveness, picky eating, and complex feeding difficulties. This whole-child approach avoids pressure or force-feeding, focusing instead on systematically desensitizing a child to the sensory properties of new foods. As an occupational therapist, I guide children through a six-step hierarchy of eating—moving comfortably from looking at food, to interacting with it, smelling it, touching it, tasting it, and finally chewing and swallowing. By utilizing structured meal routines and gradual "food chaining," this evidence-based program helps transform stressful family mealtimes into positive experiences, expanding your child's diet naturally and at their own pace.
Handwriting Without Tears® is a structured, multisensory program designed to help children develop the foundational skills needed for handwriting. Using engaging, hands-on activities, child-friendly instructions, and a step-by-step approach, children learn letter formation, pencil control, and writing skills in a fun and supportive environment.
At Summit Kids Physiotherapy, this approach may be incorporated into occupational therapy sessions to support children with fine motor coordination, visual-motor integration, letter formation, and overall handwriting legibility. Activities are adapted to each child’s developmental level and individual needs, helping build confidence and independence with everyday writing tasks.
Sensory integration is the way our brains receive, organize, and respond to information from our senses, including touch, movement, balance, sounds, sights, and body awareness. These sensory experiences help children understand their environment, regulate their responses, and participate in everyday activities.
At Summit Kids Physiotherapy, occupational therapy may incorporate individualized, play-based sensory activities to help children better manage sensory experiences and develop skills for daily life. Therapy is tailored to each child’s unique needs and may focus on supporting emotional regulation, attention, body awareness, motor planning, and participation in activities such as play, dressing, mealtimes, and school routines.
